I was putting the top end back on my savage last night, and realized that time I fixed the rubber plug oil leak a few years ago, I didn't set the "T" mark with the index mark under the right hand crankcase cover, I just totally missed that step in the clymer manual. I guess that explains why my bike had been running rough at low speeds. However, not knowing I had to take the crankcase cover off, I didn't order a new gasket for it, and the old one was destroyed during removal. I used grey permatex, the same stuff I use on the head cover, to make a gasket. After it dryed, it looks about the same thickness as the regular gasket. Has anyone ever done this, and if so, are there any problems with leaks?

Mike
